We are no longer Bengalis. Fighting on foreign soil. We film people have now become Awami League, BNP. We are not artists anymore, not even in movies. Once upon a time we were artists, directors, producers and crew. We used to chat and talk about movies. Now it is no more. Now we are divided into groups. Some unemployed artists are creating division among artists for personal interest. Informing that, Bapparaj said, ‘Indeed, our movie has been delayed. The effect of these will be worse. And those who are doing this, they are coming here to do it. They have no work. Artists are exploiting themselves by creating division. Now those people who are unemployed, do not have work – these people are being divided.
Referring to the fact that no good artists came to the picnic of the Film Artists Association recently, Bapparaj said, ‘Did you see any stars or good artists at the last picnic? did not see Because many did not go. Those who went, played sports, fought again. Understand, what’s up with our movie people! The quality of cinema has now gone to that state. Like the leaders, so are the workers. Because, those who are like us, they cannot be their leaders. Because, they don’t have that qualification. And why do we accept such leaders? Those who can go to a picnic and fight, are the leaders of those quality workers. I will not accept or follow someone below my standards as a leader. The situation of our society is like this now, unemployed people are walking around in the guise of leaders. Go to the board of directors, no picture but sitting as a leader. Go to artists’ associations, go to producers’ associations — same picture everywhere. There is no work, everyone is a leader.’
Bapparaj feels that artists are becoming leaders for personal gain. He said, ‘Absolutely the individual is benefiting. Nothing is happening for the movie. Getting government invitations, going there, eating. If you have your own business as a leader, you can get benefits there too. Who are the leaders of 19 organizations? They are giving permission for Hindi movies to come. Who are they to give permission?’
