Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, one of my strengths is the people. I walk with their strength. A trust has been created among the people that I work for them. That trust is my only asset. I walk with this wealth. As long as my countrymen are on my side, I don’t care.
He said these things in the closing speech of the second session of the 12th National Parliament on Thursday (May 9) night. The session was chaired by the Speaker of the National Assembly. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury.
Alleging that a group is trying to question the development work of the government, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, trying to question cannot be taken away from the people.
The prime minister said for four consecutive times, we work for the welfare of the people of the country. The people of the country are getting the results of the work we have done. Admit it. But, if every action is questioned, what can you do about it, you cannot take me away from the people.
Highlighting Bangabandhu’s time, the Prime Minister said, I know, the same thing happened to my father. All the works he has done in just three and a half years, starting from giving the constitution, there is no sector which he has not laid the foundations of. Still his criticism. Many things were written against him. Many attempts have been made to isolate him from the people. When he could not, he was killed.
Sheikh Hasina said, there have been many attempts to kill me. But, I survived, that too my people and party people surrounded me all the time. They saved my life by giving their lives. I now want to work for the people.
