Dubai: Pakistan avenged their loss in the group stage of the Asia Cup in the Super Four match. The Pakistan team defeated India by 5 wickets in a long fight till the last over and won a decisive victory in the Super Four. Pakistan overcame India’s target of 182 runs by losing just five wickets with one ball to spare.

Muhammad Rizwan’s half-century was decisive in Pakistan’s innings. The player faced 51 balls and scored 71 runs including 2 sixes and 6 fours.

Chasing a target of 182 runs, Pakistan lost the first wicket of captain Babar Azam who scored 14 runs off 10 balls. Babar was returned by Ravi Bishnoi. Yuzvendra Chahal also dismissed Fakhar Zaman (15) in the ninth over.

But the combination of Muhammad Rizwan and Muhammad Nawaz combined for the third wicket turned the game in favor of Pakistan. Nawaz returned with 42 runs from just 20 balls including two sixes and six fours. By then, the player had added 73 runs with Rizwan. Rizwan then returned but Khushdil Shah and Asif Ali brought Pakistan closer to victory. It was this combination of 19 runs in the 19th over bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar that robbed India of victory at the last moment. Asif (16) was dismissed in the last over, but Iftikhar Ahmed took a fifth-ball double to lead Pakistan to victory. Khushdil remained unbeaten on 14 runs.

India, who lost the toss and batted first, scored 181 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Virat Kohli, who has returned to form, is the top scorer in the Indian line-up. The half-century player scored 60 runs off 44 balls including one six and four fours.
