The High Commissioner for former resistance fighters and former members of the liberation army, Mustpha El Ktiri, stressed that this anniversary constitutes an opportunity to commemorate an event of great importance in the national struggle that the Moroccan people led under the leadership of the glorious Alawite throne for freedom, independence and the completion of territorial unity, namely the triggering of the first operations of the liberation army in the south of the Kingdom.

Mr. El Ktiri recalled the role of the populations of the entire Sahara and the Assa-Zag region in particular, in all stages of the national struggle against foreign occupation, their participation in the jihadist movement of Sheikh Maa Al-Ainin, as well as their contribution to other heroic epics and popular uprisings led by the national movement since the 1930s and after the deportation of the late HM Mohammed V on August 20, 1953.

He noted that the contribution of the resistance fighters from the province of Assa-Zag in particular, and the southern regions of the Kingdom in general, to the operations of the liberation army was decisive in the victories achieved by the army of release.

The other speakers at this meeting underlined the importance of this anniversary, which constitutes a glorious stage in the process of completing territorial unity, considering it as a pivotal event in the history of the national struggle for freedom and freedom. ‘independence.

This meeting, in which the governor of the province of Assa Zag, Youssef Kheir, took part, was marked by the tribute paid to a group of former resistance fighters and former members of the liberation army and the presentation of financial aid to several resistance families, with a total value of 408,000 dirhams, for the acquisition of housing, the creation of economic projects or in the form of social support.
