The Association of Curators of Peru convenes the third edition of the Premio Nacional de Curatorwent LLAMA
2022, which will recognize the work of curators whose proposals stand out in six categories: Pre-Republican, Republican, Contemporary, Emerging, Interdisciplinary and Beyond Art. The LLAMA Award aims to recognize, make visible and renew interest in curatorial activity at the national level. This, within the objectives of the Association of Curators of Peru to promote the emergence of new curators and curators, as well as lay a solid foundation for their formalization and good practices.
In addition to the six categories to be awarded, the Recognition of the Trajectory of Curator
to a personality with more than 30 years of outstanding work in Peru. In the previous edition, it was awarded to Élida Roman (Buenos Aires, 1941), curator and art critic with an extensive career since her arrival in Peru in 1966. The Association of Curators of Peru highlighted her determined and permanent contribution to the study, rescue and recognition of leading artists in the history of art. peruvian art. For her part, Élida left us a definition of what curatorship is in Peru:
“The vision of Peru was made of unsewn pieces and it seems to me that through a work of analysis and above all promotion, I feel that showing things is a small stitch [que] It helps to ensure that it is always understood. The call for the 2022 LLAMA Awards is open to Peruvian and foreign curators with permanent residence in the country. In this third edition, all face-to-face and virtual exhibitions held in Peru during the year 2022 will be considered suitable for application. In the previous edition, the contest awarded curators from Huánuco, La Libertad, Lima, Arequipa and Cusco. Likewise, it received proposals from Tarapoto, Piura, Callao and Ayacucho, which indicates an active curatorial work. beyond Lima.
