The Cultural Association of Kapesovo “Alexis Noutsos” aims to convert the Easter School into a cultural heritage museum of Zagori through a proposal that will be presented at the 5th Euromed DCH Panhellenic Cultural Heritage Digitization Conference.

Its members, the architect-museologist Melina Papadopoulou and the educator, doctoral candidate of the University of Ioannina Aikaterini Vasilakis in collaboration with the deputy professor of the Pedagogical Department of Elementary Education of the University of Ioannina Christos Papakostas, are going to present their presentation entitled “Experiential highlighting of the cultural heritage through digital experience applications. The example of the Easter School in Zagori”, at the conference that will take place on March 6-9, at the Municipal Gallery of Larissa – museum “G.I. Katsigra”.
As stated in a press release, the Paschalios School is a designated historical building, a bequest of the “Paschalis Brothers”, which operated as a school in Kapesovo Zagori. Its transformation into a museum was a goal for the Cultural Association of Kapesovo “Alexis Noutsos”, whose members wish to utilize the very important documents of their place, such as one of the twelve original copies of the Charter of Riga, as well as the work of the famous Vogadon hagiographers, the valuable books of the 18th-19th century from the library of the Paschaleio School and a multitude of objects of folklore interest.
“This desire was translated into a comprehensive and innovative museological and museographic study, which included both historical evidence and folklore and ethnographic material. The conceptual and spatial design is completed by the inclusion of a specially designed narrative digital presentation of aspects of popular culture, which emerge through the ritual and dance events of the community and the wider region. This project is the result of an anthropological study and museological planning that includes the use of technological means of embodied reality (embodied reality) and Immersive Virtual Reality (Immersive Virtual Reality) techniques. Its form works both in situ and as an autonomous traveling periodical exhibition, creating a special condition of coexistence with the museum under construction according to the proposal, turning it into an active cultural transmitter, whose digital footprint travels conveying elements of our living cultural heritage”, the Association states.
As noted, this museological preliminary study for the utilization of the Paschaleio School was submitted by the Cultural Association to the Municipality of Zagori, without to date receiving similar acceptance, as happened with its immediate acceptance by the university community. “We hope that the competent self-governing authorities, as well as the Ministry of Culture, will show similar interest and attention”, its members conclude.
