At Barça today, it’s all a matter of faith

It is easy to imagine that a good handful of detractors and skeptics will have recorded Joan Laporta’s initial speech at the extraordinary general assembly. Basically, to remind you of your words in case of breach, if the promises made are not turned into short-lived contrasted reality. There will be those who stick with the metaphor of Formula 1, which will make more or less fortune depending on how the petrol club goes. Beyond the anecdote, it is worth highlighting some commitments made in this parliament, such as the announcement not to alter the management model while Laporta is president.

A resounding refusal to convert it into a sports limited company, the scarecrow that will return to the shop window a thousand times in the event that the current Barça desert crossing is extended. Everyone is in a hurry to find the derailment, the way out of the maze, and no one is sure that the decisions made will turn the tide. Not even the instigators themselves.

The litany of having faith and hope in the president is still fully valid if we look at the low mobilization of delegates, unwilling to participate actively and feel like owners of the club, as they are constantly reminded. Now the strategy involves closing the exercise in the positive after activating the famous levers that allow you to develop the chosen formula. Generate profits with the risky sale of assets to unleash the rebuilding of the workforce immediately.

Again, and there are a few, the situation is raised in terms of trusting Laporta, a president who, he says, refuses to look back and remains frightened by the disastrous legacy he has received. We are the same as usual, although the future of Barça cannot be limited to a question of faith raised in the immovable line of the last fifteen months. It is difficult to see clearly the ultimate goal of full recovery because no one knows what awaits us tomorrow and in what terms of weakness will enter the millions needed to plug holes, how much it will end up costing the urgency to restart the successful machinery.

It is impossible to rule today on the success or failure of the decisions approved in assembly. They needed money as it is right now and will keep saying that it was the only alternative. This time, however, President Laporta’s words will remain relevant, reverberating in the atmosphere if they do not become a reliable reality in four days. This speech is certainly not carried away by the wind.
