At least 10 people have been killed and 12 injured in Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip.
Israel said the attacks were aimed at Islamic Jihad fighters.
In a nationally televised address after the attack on Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Yasser Lapid said the attack was in response to threats against his country.
“My government will thwart any attack attempt from Gaza towards the Israeli border. Israel will not stand idly by those who try to harm my citizens,” he said.
The dispute between Hamas, which dominates Palestine’s Gaza Strip, and the Israeli military has been ongoing for years. Both sides are engaged in frequent attacks. Palestinian officials said that 10 people, including a senior fighter, were killed and 12 people were injured.
