At least 110 students from a secondary school in Mexico were intoxicated this Friday by ingesting water that was contaminated with drugs.

It happened in the municipality of Bochil, belonging to the state of Chiapas, where the students of the Juana de Asbaje secondary school began to present symptoms of intoxication.

Although the authorities have not given an official position on the case, on Saturday afternoon the State Attorney General’s Office reported on its official Twitter account that it began carrying out toxicological tests on the students of the institution “achieving so far the application of 15 tests, which were negative for drugs of abuse,” he specified.

According to the information issued by the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) until this Saturday afternoon, 57 students were treated at the Bochil rural hospital.

The institution reported that 55 of them have already been discharged and one remains stable and under observation.

Other cases of poisoning in Mexican schools
