Teh Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis Tournament 2025, set to take place in Tokyo from October 17th to 26th, will prioritize athlete performance and dietary needs with a revamped dining program featuring plant-based options, gluten-free choices, and menus crafted by certified sports nutritionists.

Tokyo, Japan – As the international sporting world increasingly focuses on the link between nutrition and athletic achievement, organizers of the Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis Tournament (toray PPO Tennis) are taking notable steps to cater to the diverse dietary requirements of participating athletes and affiliated personnel. SIDAC Contract Food Service Co., Ltd. (SCF) and SIDAC Co., Ltd. have partnered with Oisix La Daichi Co., Ltd. to deliver a comprehensive and innovative food service experience.

Meeting the Growing Demand for Dietary Diversity

A senior official stated that the shift towards more inclusive dining options is a direct response to evolving athlete preferences and a growing awareness of the impact of food on performance. “We are seeing a significant increase in athletes adopting plant-based diets, requiring gluten-free options, or simply seeking greater variety in their meals,” the official explained. “Our goal is to provide a dining experience that supports their peak performance while respecting their individual needs.”

Since 2017, SCF has managed the restaurants for athletes and related parties at the Toray PPO Tennis tournament, and this year’s program represents a significant upgrade. the menu will feature approximately 1,700 meals served over 10 days, encompassing breakfast, lunch, and dinner for players, coaches, and tournament officials.

Plant-Based and Gluten-Free Options Take Center stage

for the first time, the tournament will offer meal kits utilizing Oisix’s plant-based menu, including options like “borscht,” “soybean meat japchae,” and “sweet and spicy stir-fried potatoes and raw tofu.” These vegan and plant-based choices are designed to appeal to a growing segment of athletes embracing this dietary approach.

Along with the meal kits, the tournament will also introduce Calrose rice, a variety favored by athletes for its texture and sustained energy release. “calrose Salad,” a simple combination of cooked Calrose rice, vegetables, and olive oil, will be offered as a carbohydrate-rich and nutrient-packed option. This initiative is a collaboration with the USA rice Federation.

The commitment to inclusivity extends to gluten-free options. Beyond offering gluten-free noodles, the tournament will expand the range of gluten-free dishes, clearly marking them on the menu. Soy milk yogurt and rice milk will also be available to accommodate various dietary restrictions.

Expert Nutritional Guidance

All menus will be created by certified sports nutritionists from SIDUX, ensuring that athletes receive meals optimized for their performance needs. According to a company release, these experts have a proven track record of providing food for top athletes at major international sporting events and public institutions. The menus will also clearly display macronutrient information and ingredients using easily understandable icons.

Custom meal options, including egg dishes and pasta & risotto, will allow athletes to tailor their meals to their specific preferences and energy requirements.

Sustainable Sourcing and Quality Ingredients

Building on previous years’ successes, the tournament will continue to utilize carefully selected vegetables sourced from approximately 4,000 producers contracted by Oisix. This commitment to quality ingredients and sustainable sourcing aligns with Oisix La Daichi’s broader mission as a “sustainable retailer” focused on minimizing food waste and promoting responsible agricultural practices.
