In order to prepare for the 2021 Summer Olympic Games, to provide sports benefits to the winners and prize-winners of the Olympic Games, World and European Championships, to the athletes who have obtained a rating for participation in the 2021 Summer Olympic Games, as well as to the coaches and doctors of the national sports teams of the Republic of Armenia of the sports included in the program of the Olympic Games, the Republic of Armenia 232 million drams will be allocated to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
“With this project, the state reaffirms its commitment to play a major role in the field of sports and, in fact, starts a new program. Currently, the champions and prize winners of the world and European championships of the sports included in the Olympic Games program in RA, as well as the athletes, coaches and doctors who have been qualified to participate in the 2021 Olympic Games, are not provided with monthly incentive money, which was previously done from a non-state source, but for months has been stopped and our athletes and coaches have found themselves in a difficult situation,” KGS Minister Araik Harutyunyan said at the government session.
According to him, with the new redistribution, it will be possible to provide monthly sports benefits to athletes, coaches of RA national teams, doctors and improve their social condition.
“It means emphasizing the role and importance of sports and thus supporting the development of sports, helping RA national teams to participate more actively in international competitions and tournaments. Advanced athletes of 6 sports are preparing for the 2021 Olympic Games, one chief and 2 coaches and doctors of Olympic sports are working with them,” the minister noted.
