Attack on a Hindu temple in Karachi – India condemns

Some militants have attacked a Hindu temple in the Pakistani city of Karachi. Sri Mari Mata Temple is located in the Korangi area. The priest of the temple lives nearby. Eyewitnesses said that a gang of eight persons on motorcycles attacked the temple premises the day before yesterday.

They said the mob had attacked the priest’s house and damaged the idols there. The Hindus living in the area are in a state of fear due to this attack. India has condemned the incident.

Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Union Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bakshi said the federal government was monitoring the damage to a Hindu temple in Karachi, which was another act of persecution of religious minorities. He said India was urging Pakistan to ensure the security and well-being of minority communities.
