jpnn.comDENPASAR – The foreigner from Australia with the initials MJF, the perpetrator of the assault on a taxi driver, was deported by immigration officers from Ngurah Rai, Badung, Bali, Sunday (5/5/2024)
“We have deported him and his name will be proposed to be included in the detention list,” said Head of the Immigration Office, Ngurah Rai Suhendra, in Badung, Bali, Sunday.
He explained that the 25 year old man was returned to Australia after being transferred from the Kuta Police, which is under the jurisdiction of the Denpasar City Police (Polresta).
Suhendra said that based on immigration regulations, MJF was subject to Article 75 Paragraph 1 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration, so he was deported and proposed to be included in the list prohibited from entering Indonesian territory.
Based on immigration crossing data, MJF entered Indonesian territory on April 18 2024 via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport using a Visa on Arrival (VOA) and has a residence permit valid until May 17 2024.
The deportation started when MJF was dealing with the police for assaulting a taxi driver in the central parking area of Kuta on Sunday (21/4) at around 22.05 WITA.
He explained that after undergoing the legal process at the Kuta Police which was completed using restorative justice, on Thursday (2/5) MJF was then handed over by the Kuta Police to the Ngurah Rai Immigration to undergo the deportation process.
Previously, Kuta Sector Police Chief Police Commissioner I Ketut Agus Pasek Sudina in Badung, Saturday, said that the Australian citizen was arrested at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport when he wanted to flee to his country on Friday (26/4) evening.
