The American actor Matthew Perry died as a result of the “acute effects of ketamine”, a drug used to treat depression and anxiety, which would have contributed to his “subsequent drowning” in the jacuzzi of his home a month and a half ago. This was revealed this Friday in the autopsy report published by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office.

The official document states that given “the high levels of ketamine found in their post-mortem blood samples, the main lethal effects would be both cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression,” according to the American television network CNN.

The performer, known almost worldwide for playing Chandler Bing in the television series ‘Friends’, “was receiving ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety,” as detailed in the autopsy. Perry, 54, was found dead in his home in Los Angeles (California, United States) on October 28.
