Awarded the prizes of the III edition of the Science and Art Contest ‘Concienciarte’

The Bahía de Algeciras Shopping Center has hosted the awards ceremony of the III edition of the ‘Concienciarte’ Science and Art Contest, an initiative carried out by the direction of the Natural Park of the Strait by the Ministry of Sustainability, Environment and Blue Economy of the Junta de Andalucía with the aim of bringing the environmental and cultural values ​​of the park closer to the educational community, thus promoting respect and conservation of ecological and cultural wealth. The awards ceremony is framed in the ephemeris of World Environment Day, which will be held on June 5.

The sub-delegate of the Board in Campo de Gibraltar, Javier Rodríguez Ros; the director of the park, Jorge Serradilla; the acting councilors for Education and the Environment of Algeciras and Tarifa, Javier Vázquez Hueso and Sandra Navarro, as well as the councilor for the Treasury of Tarifa, María Manella, have presented the prizes to the 18 winners, who have received diplomas, a batch of publications from the Parque Natural del Estrecho and a gift sponsored by El Corte Inglés. In addition, the first in each category have won a maritime excursion to watch cetaceans sponsored by Turmares and Firmm, collaborating in the delivery of awards by the Andalusian Youth Institute.

The winners of this edition have been: in the Special Education category, Raúl Sánchez, Carmen Romero and Carlota Bertomeu; in Early Childhood Education, Sara Regén, Alejandra Alpresa and David García; in Primary Education, Laura López, María Pérez and María de la Paz Doblás, in addition to Honorable Mentions for Carla Izquierdo and Alberto Ruiz.

Regarding the Secondary category, the winning centers have been the IES Federico García Lorca, the Centro Docente Montecalpe and the IES Saladillo. In Vocational Training the first and second year of the IES El Getares; and in Permanent Training the Al-Yazirat Center and the Tarifa Center.

The 10 best works of all those that have been submitted to the contest have been exhibited since May 29 at the Shopping Center, all being related to the natural, cultural, scenic or socioeconomic values ​​of the Natural Park of the Strait. The jury of the contest has been made up of members of the management of the Park, the Association of Friends of Science and the Institute of Campogibraltarian Studies

The sub-delegate has highlighted the wide participation in this Science and Art contest aimed at the educational centers of Algeciras and Tarifa, since there have been 414 students who have presented their work. Likewise, Rodríguez Ros has highlighted the importance of activities that contribute to spreading the great natural and cultural wealth of the Strait National Park.

Throughout the year there are different initiatives carried out by the management of the PN del Estrecho with the educational centers of the region to make them aware of this important natural resource that Campo de Gibraltar has. Specifically, this academic year a total of 1,350 students have participated in the ‘Know your Park’ activity.
