Gambling and doing something good at the same time? This has been the goal of the Games Done Quick Events for over 10 years. The best speedrunners in the world meet twice a year, show off their skills and collect donations for a good cause. Since January 14th The Awesome Games Done Quick are running and the program looks damn good.
The speedrunners will be broadcasting live from the event in Pittsburgh for seven whole days, trying to play through various games as quickly as possible. Depending on the category, this doesn’t necessarily always mean from the start to the end credits. For example, for Baldur’s Gate III, the Sex% category hit the media, in which time only stops when the first NPC engages in a love game with the main character.
Depending on when the donations arrive, you can directly influence the runs, such as renaming the main character or forcing the runner to use a specific strategy or detour.
Various milestones also unlock additional runs. If enough money comes together by then, the Resident Evil 4 run on Saturday will be expanded to include the Separate Ways DLC, for example.
Highlights (for us) are:
– Tuesday, 2:55 a.m.: Silent Hill 2 (Hard/Hard) in under an hour
– Tuesday, 4:56 p.m.: The Legend of Zelda (NES, Any% Glitchless) in under 35 minutes
– Thursday, 10:42 a.m.: Skull Island: Rise of Kong (Any%) in less than 15 (!) minutes
– Saturday, 12:33 a.m.: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Any%) under an hour

This time, the donations collected will go to the Prevent Cancer Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising awareness and early detection of cancer.
