Azerbaijan and the EBRD discussed the preliminary draft of the country strategy for 2024-2029, Day.Az reported on Tuesday.
According to the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, Economy Minister Mikail Jabbarov met with Alkis Vrienios Drakinos, Regional Director for the Caucasus of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
It is noted that issues of cooperation and jointly implemented projects were discussed at the meeting.
It was emphasized that there is successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EBRD in various areas and that our country attaches importance to the development of relations with the bank. It was noted that projects implemented jointly with the bank in the field of ecology, energy, transport, transit and other areas contribute to the diversification of the economy.
At the meeting, they discussed opportunities for cooperation towards the implementation of set goals, in particular in renewable and alternative energy, development of the private sector, public-private partnerships, on priority infrastructure projects and in other areas.
The parties discussed issues on the Azerbaijan-EBRD cooperation agenda, a preliminary draft of the country strategy for Azerbaijan for 2024-2029, intensive support for the green economy and prospects for joint projects.
It should be noted that the EBRD has been cooperating with Azerbaijan since 1992 and is the country’s leading investor. In total, the bank has invested over 3.723 billion euros in Azerbaijan across 190 projects.
