Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are seeing significant growth in cooperation in the field of transport.

As Day.Az reports on Thursday with reference to Trend, this was stated by Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikail Jabbarov, speaking at a panel discussion on the topic “A joint path to success: Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan,” held as part of the Tashkent Investment Forum.

“Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in the transport sector began two years ago. We reached mutual understanding and applied a special tariff policy to ensure comfortable transportation conditions. We see significant growth in this area – more than 300 tons of cargo were transported by road and rail,” he said .

The minister mentioned joint activities in the field of automotive cooperation, emphasizing the role of UzAuto Motors and Azermash.

Mikail Jabbarov also spoke about cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan within the framework of a joint investment fund.

“I would like to thank our colleagues in Uzbekistan who facilitated this partnership, we highly appreciate it. Yesterday we held the first meeting of the oversight committee. We discussed more than 10 projects in various fields,” he added.

It should be noted that trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan from January to March 2024 amounted to 142 million US dollars. The economies of the two countries have sufficient potential for mutual trade to reach $1 billion in the coming years.
