Azerbaijan is becoming a transit hub for Uzbekistan thanks to the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR or Middle Corridor).

As Day.Az reports on Friday with reference to Trend, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States Furkat Sidikov said this at an event of the Caspian Policy Center (CPC) in Washington.

“The Middle Corridor, a project supported by the United States, provides Uzbekistan with access to Azerbaijan, which, in turn, becomes a transport hub for us,” he emphasized.

According to the ambassador, Central Asia can serve as a bridge connecting Eurasia and South Asia, and also boasts a market of more than 3 billion people, which could be of interest to the United States.

“We are currently experiencing a period of significant changes in supply routes and economic structures. American companies now require access to new markets, and Central Asia has the potential to meet this need,” Sidikov added.

Note that the Middle Corridor connects the container rail freight networks of China and the countries of the European Union through the countries of Central Asia, the Caucasus, Turkey and Eastern Europe.

A multilateral multimodal transport infrastructure links ferry terminals of the Caspian and Black Seas with the railway systems of China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Ukraine and Poland.

The middle corridor contributes to an increase in cargo traffic from China to Turkey, as well as to European countries and in the opposite direction.

A block train running along this corridor delivers goods from China to Europe in an average of 20-25 days, and this is one of the main advantages of this transport corridor.
