In Azerbaijan, great attention is paid to the development of sports, and the pace of development is accelerating every day.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Trend, the Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF) Nurlana Mammadzade told reporters about this on Saturday on the sidelines of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku.

“Thanks to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan, President of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation Mehriban Aliyeva, the best conditions have been created for the development of gymnastics. I believe that the generation of young Azerbaijani athletes, those who are just coming to the sport, is very happy, because in the country “Every opportunity has been created for the formation and development of athletes,” she noted.

Saying that the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation always holds international competitions at a high level, Nurlana Mammadzade emphasized that AGF has extensive organizational experience.

“We confidently open our doors to all delegations. Another advantage of our Federation is that the team of the local organizing committee consists of young people. I believe that one of the factors of a successful organization is that we are open to innovation, and our young staff is full of new ideas and interesting proposals,” she said.

The Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation added that at the current Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku there is a very interesting fight between teams in group exercises.

“We hope that our team will perform well first. 2024 is an important year, it is the Olympic year and athletes are trying to participate in competitions before the Olympic Games to get into good shape. Some athletes have already managed to get a license, and some are trying to take advantage of the last chance “There are many star gymnasts at the World Cup in Baku. Among them, Azerbaijani gymnast Zohra Agamirova, a bronze medalist at the European Championships in Baku last year,” she added.

It should be noted that the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup is taking place at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku on April 19-21. Over 110 gymnasts from more than 40 countries take part in the competition. Gymnasts perform in a program of individual and group exercises.

Azerbaijan is represented at the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup by Zohra Agamirova and Kamilla Seidzade in the individual program, as well as a team in group exercises consisting of Gullyu Agalarzade, Kamilla Aliyeva, Elizaveta Luzan, Daria Sorokina, Lyaman Alimuradova and Zeinab Gummetova.
