The Azerbaijani State Dance Ensemble took first place at the II International Dance Festival “Lazgi” in the city of Khiva (Uzbekistan), the press service of the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan told Day.Az Life.
The festival took place on April 25-30, and was attended by groups from Azerbaijan, France, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Russia, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia, Brazil, Pakistan, South Korea, Indonesia, Egypt and Iran.
The Azerbaijani ensemble was awarded first place, the team was given a memorable gift and a cash prize of $2,500.
Note that the festival was held for the first time in 2022. The purpose of it is the preservation and comprehensive promotion of this unique art form, and the further expansion of the country’s international cultural relations on this basis.
“Lazgi” is an Uzbek folk song and dance. This dance is very popular both in Uzbekistan and abroad. The Khorezm dance “Lazgi” is included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity as an element of the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.
