Popular singer, composer, pianist, People’s Artist of Russia Dmitry Malikov gave a concert at THE GRAND in Baku on the picturesque coast of the resort town of Sea Breeze Resort, Day.Az reports with reference to Trend.
Before the concert program, the performer talked with representatives of the domestic media and talked about what connects him with the beautiful city of Baku.
“For me, Baku is an unusual city, because it was here, in 1987, that my very first performance took place as part of the ensemble “Gems” – my father’s group (note – the creator and permanent director of the VIA “Gems”, People’s Artist of Russia Yuri Malikov) It was a visiting concert “Songs of the Year”, they performed in the summer, in an open area in the amphitheater. In fact, it was my first stage appearance. That’s why I always visit Baku with trepidation. In the 90s, of course, I came more often, now it turns out. a little less often, but my connection in Baku has never been interrupted. Fans from Azerbaijan write to me a lot. I also dream of a big concert at the Heydar Aliyev Palace. The last time I performed there was at the 70th anniversary of the People’s Artist of Azerbaijan, famous singer and composer Polad Bulbuloglu. “, – he said.
Dmitry Malikov admitted that the day after the concert at THE GRAND he plans to take a walk through the center of Baku and enjoy the beauty of the capital of Azerbaijan.
“I specially bought tickets for an evening flight so that I could take a walk around the city early in the morning. My wife came with me, in general, this is very rare, she doesn’t often go on tour with me, but she came to Baku. It’s my wife’s first time in Baku, she’s very excited.” I want to walk here, enjoy the atmosphere of the Old City (note – Icheri Sheher), the weather, the sun… I was told that the city and the country are developing rapidly, incredibly, becoming fantastically beautiful. But Azerbaijan has always been a beautiful country. The main thing that distinguishes your land is the people. People are very hospitable, friendly, extremely warm, sincere, that’s why I feel good here,” he noted.
Malikov also mentioned the friendship of his father Yuri Malikov and the legendary Azerbaijani singer and composer Muslim Magomayev.
“Dad asked to tell everyone that Muslim Magomayev wrote a song for VIA “Gems”. It’s called “We were born for the song”, by the way, it is in open sources, you can listen to it. I also remember it from childhood. Dad also emphasized, that no one had such popularity as Muslim Magomayev.
Emin (note – People’s Artist of Azerbaijan, singer and composer Emin Agalarov (EMIN)) showed archival footage and recordings of Muslim Magomayev. He is, of course, a unique composer and performer. And also, I, like him, in a sense, am a “servant of two masters,” because he combined classical music and pop music, this is what I am also trying to do. I also have children’s educational programs. By the way, I definitely need to come to Azerbaijan with the “Music Lessons” program. These are such motivating master classes so that children are sure to study classical music. I traveled almost all over Russia with this program and held about two hundred meetings. If I see that a child has Azerbaijani roots, then he will definitely have a talent for music, and it doesn’t matter what musical instrument he plays – be it a piano, or a folk instrument, or he sings. You have a talented, musical nation,” said the artist.
The musician’s discography includes instrumental compositions created under the influence of music from different cultures. And according to the People’s Artist of Russia, it will be interesting for him to create a piece of music using the motifs of Azerbaijani mugham.
“You will need to buy music CDs with mugham and be sure to listen to them. I am sure this music will inspire me. Because, indeed, music is often born under the impression of travel. I think that after this visit to Baku, a new work will also appear,” he emphasized He.
Sharing his impressions of the visit, Dmitry Malikov could not help but show delight in Azerbaijani national cuisine, emphasizing that it is tasty and varied.
“By the way, I liked the local wine – white. Gorgeous, in no way inferior to Italian or French wines. Well, as for food, of course, they prepare packages for us, I know that (smiles). In Baku I always order sturgeon, here it is especially tasty , they cook differently here,” he added.
