After the release of the movie ‘Kabali’, director B. Ranjith said.
The movie ‘Nakshatram Nagaranga’ is being made under his direction. Speaking at the music launch of the film, he said that the single word ‘Jaybeam’ guided him to progress today.
“When I directed ‘Kabali’, producer Thanu gave me complete freedom. Although he didn’t like the ending of the film, he agreed to it for me.
“Even though the film was said to be a big hit, I was told that there was not much buzz among the film industry.
“This made me very upset. Then Kalaipuli Thanu called me and told me the collection details of the film. He encouraged me through this.
“If producer Gnanavel Raja had not released my debut film ‘Attakathi’, I would not have risen to this level,” said Ba.Ranjith.
Ranjith fondly mentioned that it was director Venkat Prabhu who taught him how to make a film as he wanted and his film ‘Chennai 28’ shaped his life.
“It was amazing that when I was an assistant to director Sasi, he made me sit next to him and spoke very respectfully. I learned that trait from him. I do the same with my assistants today.
“Similarly, it was only because of the support of producer Gnanavel Raja that we were able to direct the film ‘Attakathi’. I can never forget him and Thanu,” said Pa. Ranjith.
