We already know the resource ceilings for the year 2024 set for receiving the back-to-school allowance. Indeed, appeared in the Official Journal on December 28 a stop setting the resource conditions for several family benefits, which, like every year, are reassessed.

Thus, the back-to-school allowance (ARS) is paid each year automatically to families whose resources are below the ceiling set by the authorities. For the 2024 school year, this is set at 20,878 euros per family, to which must be added 6,263 euros per child. For a family with an only child, the ceiling is 27,141 euros. It is then 33,404 euros for a family with two children, 39,667 euros for a family with three children and so on.

These limits have been increased by a little more than 5% compared to the start of the 2023 school year, since the previous order set a ceiling of 19,827 euros per family, with an additional 5,948 euros per child, or 25,775 euros for a family with only one child.

Between 398 and 434 euros paid in 2023

The amount that will be paid, however, will only be communicated later in the year by the authorities, indexed to consumer prices. For the 2023 school year, the allowance amounted to 398.09 euros for children aged 6 to 10, 420.05 euros for those aged 11 to 14 and 434.61 euros for adolescents aged 15 to 18 years. It aims to partly finance the costs linked to the start of the school year, such as supplies, equipment and even clothing.

Like every year, other resource ceilings for various social benefits have also been revised upwards. The basic allowance for the young child care benefit (Paje), paid in the event of birth or adoption, is notably part of this.
