BAM Winter Festival Celebrates Paralympic Values Ahead of the Olympics

A vibrant celebration of winter and the spirit of the Paralympics is underway with the latest edition of the BAM Winter Festival, offering free activities for all ages and abilities. The event, designed to inspire courage, determination, and equality, arrives as anticipation builds for the upcoming Olympic Games.

The festival’s core mission this year is to highlight the values embodied by Paralympic athletes, fostering a sense of inclusion and community through a diverse range of experiences.

A Day of Activities for All

The BAM Winter Festival features a packed schedule of events catering to both adults and children. Attendees can participate in an outdoor yoga session focused on breathing techniques, or embark on a sensorial walk through the park guided by the Descrivedendo method, in collaboration with the National Subvedenti Association. This unique walk aims to engage participants’ senses in a new and meaningful way.

Simon Barlaam Leads Creative Workshop

Leading the artistic component of the festival is Simon Barlaam, a Paralympic swimmer and visual artist. Barlaam is also part of the Olympian Artists project, an initiative promoted by the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. He will be hosting a creative workshop, guiding participants in the creation of a collective artwork symbolizing inclusion and community.

“In Search of the Torch of Values” Treasure Hunt

Families are invited to participate in an engaging treasure hunt, “In Search of the Torch of Values,” at 11:00 and 14:30. Created in collaboration with Dramatrà, the hunt transforms the BAM park into an “Olympics for families,” complete with creative relays, riddles, and team-based challenges. The route is thoughtfully designed with stages inspired by different sports and linked to specific Paralympic values, turning fun into an opportunity for cooperation, discovery, and determination.

The festival underscores the importance of accessibility and inclusivity in sport, aligning with the broader goals of the Olympic movement. It serves as a powerful reminder that the values of courage, inspiration, and equality are central to both the Paralympic and Olympic Games.
