Melbourne: The Ukrainian government has banned all imports from Russia, and Ukraine has urged other countries to ban imports from Russia. Before the war, Ukraine imported about $ 6 billion worth of goods a year from Russia.

In this regard, Ukrainian Economy Minister Yulia Sverdenko posted on her Facebook page on Saturday:

“A complete ban on all imports from Russia has been officially announced.”
“From now on, no products of the Russian Federation can be imported into our country.”

No goods or services have been exchanged between the two countries since Russian forces launched an offensive on Ukraine on February 24. Ukraine on Saturday enacted a ban on imports of goods from Russia.

“Such a move by Ukraine would set a precedent for the West and motivate them to strengthen sanctions against Russia, including the implementation of an energy embargo and the isolation of all Russian banks.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selensky has repeatedly called on Western nations to boycott Russia’s oil and other exports and to stop exporting to Russia due to its military offensive.

Britain and the European Union have imposed sanctions on Russia. The United States has already imposed such a ban on them, and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Saturday that further sanctions would be announced.

The UN says prices of food items such as grain and vegetable oil in international markets have risen to unprecedented levels in the wake of the Ukraine war. The Food and Agriculture Protection Agency said.
