Concert Disrupted by Violence, Sparking Safety Concerns

The Faridpur Zila School’s 185th-anniversary festivity descended into chaos when a group attempted too force their way into the venue and began throwing projectiles at the stage.

The event, scheduled for 9 p.m.on the second day of the two-day anniversary celebration at the Faridpur District School, took a violent turn when a group of individuals, denied entry, allegedly tried to breach the venue. According to reports from local media, including the DailyStar, the group then began hurling bricks and stones toward the stage.

Students reportedly resisted the attack, but at least 15 to 20 sustained injuries amidst the ensuing chaos. Rajibul Hasan Khan, head of the anniversary publicity and media subcommittee, expressed bewilderment, stating, “We had completed all preparations to make James’ concert a success. but we do not understand why, for what reason, or who carried out the attack.”

By 10 p.m., Mustafizur Rahman Shamim, the organising committee convenor, announced the cancellation of James’ performance, acting on the instructions of the Faridpur deputy commissioner.

A Pattern of Intimidation and Violence

The attack on James’ concert isn’t an isolated incident.
