Women T20 World Cup-2024 is hosted by Bangladesh. But due to the emerging political situation, world cricket’s governing body ICC is looking for an alternative venue. For that purpose they are considering India, Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates as possible venues.

In the end, if Bangladesh fails to organize the women’s short format World Cup, they are trying to know whether they can organize it by talking to the cricket officials of the countries. But the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jai Shah has told the ICC that they will not be able to host the World Cup in Bangladesh.

Jai Shah told Times of India about this, ‘ICC wanted to know from us whether we can organize the World Cup. I told them no implicitly. It is the season of the year here. Besides, next year we will organize Women’s ODI World Cup. So I did not give any signal to the ICC that we will do two World Cups in a row.’

In this case, the ICC now has Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates as an alternative. Whether they finally agree remains to be seen.

Last week, the ICC said in a statement, “We are closely monitoring the ongoing situation in Bangladesh.” Bangladesh Security Agency and our own independent security consultants are monitoring the matter. We are in constant touch with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Bangladesh, however, is making a concerted effort to host the Women’s T20 World Cup through the interim government. But the question is, in the current situation of Bangladesh, will the top teams like England, Australia and India want to come to play the World Cup?
