Bangladesh wins first women’s ODI World Cup Pakistan, meanwhile, have lost 18 consecutive World Cups.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to field. Bangladesh scored 234 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs. Fergana scored 71 runs. Pakistan’s Nashara took 3 wickets. This is the highest score by a Bangladesh team in women’s ODI cricket.
Opening batsman Citra Amin scored 104 in Pakistan’s innings. However, Pakistan managed only 225 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs. Thus failing by 9 runs. The opening batsmen formed an alliance of up to 91 runs. Pakistan were 183/2 with 8 overs to spare. However in the last stage the other batters were unable to chase the target properly.
The Bangladesh team, which is playing for the first time in the World Cup, has recorded its first victory. However, Pakistan has lost the last 18 World Cups. Pakistan joins Zimbabwe after 18 defeats in the Men’s and Women’s World Cups. From 1983 to 1992, the Zimbabwe team suffered 18 defeats.
