Protesters Storm Bangladesh Parliament Building

Protesters in Bangladesh stormed the country’s parliament building in Dhaka. Video footage of the incident is being shared on Bangladeshi social media, Day.Az reports, citing TASS.
According to the footage, several dozen people sat in the parliamentary chairs with their feet on the tables. Many stood on the tables and smoked. Others filmed the proceedings on their mobile phones.
Some videos also show plumes of smoke inside the courtroom and papers scattered on the floor.
According to Bangladeshi media, thousands of people have taken to the streets of the country’s capital in recent hours. Arson, vandalism and looting have been reported. Protesters have vandalized the prime minister’s residence, smashed a statue of the country’s founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and set fire to his museum, stormed the office of the ruling Awami League party, attacked the homes of ruling party representatives, police stations and the offices of leading television channels.
