Marina Tabassum has made it to Time magazine’s list of 100 most influential people of 2024. This renowned architect of Bangladesh has been listed in the best innovator category.

Time magazine published this list on Tuesday. American architect Sarah Whiting wrote about Tabassum in Time magazine.

Referring to Tabassum as a ‘selfless architect’, Sarah writes, ‘Tabassum’s selflessness can be seen in the buildings he designs. He cares for his own creation as part of the animal kingdom sharing the earth’s resources.’

Tabassum himself said about the Aga Khan Award-winning Bait Ur Rauf Mosque in Dhaka, a building should be allowed to breathe without any artificial help. In a country with increasing flood risk due to climate change, he designed houses that could be built cheaply and easily removed.’

Apart from Bait Ur Rauf, Bangladesh Independence Museum and Independence Pillar are notable achievements of Marina Tabassum. Apart from the Aga Khan Award, this architect won the Gold Award in 2021.

NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes, animator Hayao Miyazaki, Formula One driver Max Verstappen, Argentine president Javier Millei, Indian actress Alia Bhatt and British pop star Dua Lipa have made it to Time magazine’s list of 100 influential people.
