Barakaldo continues giving brushstrokes of the squad that will face the challenge of trying to promote again in the Second Federation. The manufacturing entity firmly demonstrates that its project is continuous and yesterday announced the ninth renewal. This time it was the turn of Urki Txoperena, a 25-year-old winger who will complete his third season for Lasesarre. The man from Lesaka has scored five goals in 30 games this season, although his contribution goes far beyond numbers, as he is one of the most outstanding players in the Basque Third Federation group.
Urki Txoperena burst into the Third Federation with great force two seasons ago. He appeared as a complete unknown in Beti Gazte, his hometown team, and soon his balance, dribbling, speed and self-confidence attracted all eyes. In the Navarrese team, which was relegated that same year with only 26 points, the young winger scored eight goals in 18 games, which at that time accounted for more than 36% of his team’s goals. Barakaldo did not hesitate to bet on him and took over his services in January 2022.
