Barcelona once again occupies the second position as the preferred city in the European Union to create a ‘startup‘, behind Berlin (Germany), according to the latest Startup Heatmap Europe 2023 study.
The study highlights that 17.1% of European entrepreneurs would choose the Catalan capital to boot its project, situating Barcelona ahead of cities such as Amsterdam, Paris and Lisbon.
In a statement, the Department of Business of the Generalitat has informed this Monday that Barcelona occupies así for the sixth consecutive year the second position in the list of Startup Heat Map Europe.

The Startup Heatmap Europe has been analyzing since 2016 the 50 cities most attractive cities in Europe to create a start-up based on the preferences of the founders of these companies, who choose three European cities from a list of more than 200.
Catalonia currently has more than 2,000 start-ups that generate more than 19,100 jobs and that captured 1,653 million euros of investments in 2022, the highest figure recorded so far.
