Yesterday, “Barcelona” officially presented the construction project of the new 105,000-capacity stadium. That idea still needs to be approved by the club’s board of directors. A council meeting is scheduled for April 5 or 6. “Barcelona” intends to build the stadium on 20 hectares of land in the Le Court area.
The project includes a 105,000-seat stadium, a 12,000-seat sports complex, another small indoor gymnasium, a skating rink, a social and commercial zone, more modern offices, a new club academy and 5,000 car parking spaces.
“It will be the most important sports project in Europe and the world. No city can simply build something like this,” said Javier Faus, Barcelona’s vice president for economic affairs.
The Espai Barca project is expected to start in 2017, after a tender for the construction is announced and an architect is selected. It should be completed in 2021.
According to goal.com, “Barcelona” will spend 600 million euros for the implementation of the project.
