Baseus Inspire XC1 Earbuds Offer Extensive Customization, Hampered by Update Issues

The Baseus Inspire XC1 earbuds provide a highly customizable listening experience, offering a range of audio modes and control options through a companion app – though the app isn’t essential for basic functionality. The earbuds, however, have encountered issues with firmware updates during testing.

A key feature of the Inspire XC1 is its dedicated app, designed for setup and control. Users gain access to several distinct modes, including Low Latency for gaming, Dolby Audio for immersive sound, LDAC for high-resolution audio streaming, Bass Boost for enhanced low frequencies, and a selection of pre-configured equalizer presets. New users are greeted with a helpful tutorial upon initial connection.

According to testing, the “Bose Sound” preset is simply an EQ setting within the app, but it’s automatically disabled when either Dolby Audio or LDAC is activated. Testers noted that the differences between the various audio modes are readily discernible to the ear.

The Inspire XC1 also boasts multipoint connectivity, allowing simultaneous pairing with two devices – a feature increasingly common in premium earbuds.

Physical controls are handled via mechanical buttons positioned on the top of each earbud for easy access. While the app allows for some customization of these button functions, options are somewhat limited. Specifically, double-press actions offer significantly more configuration possibilities than single-press actions.

However, the user experience isn’t without its drawbacks. Firmware updates are delivered through the app, but during the evaluation period, an update was consistently offered yet repeatedly failed to install. This suggests potential stability issues with the update process that Baseus will need to address.
