Colombo: The Supreme Court of Sri Lanka has granted permission to Basil Rajapaksa, former Finance Minister and brother of former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, to travel abroad. Permission was given till January 15, 2023. Basil approached the court stating that he has to travel abroad for treatment next week. The Supreme Court had imposed a foreign travel ban on Katti Basil and his brother, former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, for causing the country’s financial crisis. At the same time, there are indications that Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who left the country and came to Thailand, may arrive in Colombo this morning.
