The head of Government of Mexico City, Marti Batresstated this Friday that all the people affected by the collapse of a section in the Metro Line 12which left 26 people dead and dozens injured, received free medical and psychological care, and criticized the attempt to profit from the people’s pain.

In the announcement of the launch of Operation Xochimilco, the capital president added that a public official was appointed for each victim to manage the delivery of housing, employment support and compensation.

From the beginning it was stated that no victim would be left helpless. and it has been fulfilled. “All injured victims received free medical and psychological care in 19 public hospitals and seven private hospitals, a public official was appointed for each victim as a liaison, medicine expenses were reimbursed,” he highlighted.

Batres stressed that 118 reparation agreements were signedwith which 92 percent of the victims and their families have opted for the process of Restorative Justice that is contemplated in the General Law of Alternative Justice Mechanisms.

In addition to all this, the Government of Mexico City maintains monitoring of cases that still require it, said the capital’s president.

“Line 12, in addition, is already fully reinforced and rebuilt, with the participation and supervision of public, private and academic institutions, and has been operating in its entirety since January 30 of this year,” said the head of Government.

“Line 12 benefits nearly 400 thousand users in the southeast of Mexico City, from municipalities such as Tlahuacbut also from Iztapalapa, Xochimilco, Coyoacán and even Benito Juárez.”

Martí Batres mentioned that all this task has been conducted by the Government of Mexico City.
