Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is the richest sports organization in the country. BCB’s bank account is swelling with each passing day. The cost has also increased with time. The organization is contributing to various development programs of the government by paying taxes regularly.

BCB has paid tax of Tk 875.2 million in the last two financial years. Out of that, in the financial year 2021-22 BCB paid tax of Tk 37 crore 26 lakh 98 thousand. And the amount of tax payment in the financial year 2022-23 is Tk 50 crore 25 lakh 55 thousand.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of BCB is going to be held tomorrow (March 31) at a five-star hotel in the capital. RisingBD confirmed the tax after reviewing the report prepared by BCB for the AGM.

How is tax money paid? The tax is paid from BCB’s centrally contracted cricketers, foreign coaches, officials’ salaries and bills from suppliers and service providers.

But the amount of this tax would have been at least 8 crore more. On BCB’s application, the Board of Revenue granted tax relief on interest earned from FDR. BCB did not have to pay Tk 3 crore 96 lakh in 2021-22 financial year and Tk 4 crore 50 lakh in 2022-23 financial year.

In the financial year 2022-23, BCB earned Tk 507 crore 57 lakh. Which is 179 crore more than the previous year. The highest income of Tk 167 crore 59 lakh came from ICC.

35 crore 47 lakh from national men and women cricket team sponsorship, 16 crore 75 lakh from title sponsorship, 3 crore 68 lakh from international series tickets and other rights, 15 crore 75 lakh from national cricket team sponsorship rights, 37 crore 48 lakh from ACC And 124 crores from international TV rights is significant.
