BCCI Approaches Ashish Nehra for India’s Coach, Extends Rahul Dravid’s Contract

Mumbai: In a surprising turn of events, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was considering former India player and Gujarat Titans coach Ashish Nehra for the post of India’s coach. However, Nehra reportedly showed no interest in the role, leading BCCI to extend Rahul Dravid’s contract as the head coach of the Indian national cricket team.

According to reports, BCCI has asked Dravid to remain as the head coach till the upcoming T20 World Cup. This decision came after captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar took the stand that Dravid should continue to train the team until the World Cup.

Initially, BCCI had approached Nehra to take the position as the coach of India’s T20 team. Nehra’s successful stint as the coach of Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) worked in his favor, as he led the team to victory as the IPL champions on his maiden debut. He also managed to lead the team to the finals in two consecutive seasons.

The crisis was eventually eased when Dravid agreed to remain in his current position. Along with Dravid, the current coaching staff, including batting coach Vikram Rathore, bowling coach Paras Mambre, and fielding coach T Dileep, will continue in their roles.

In related news, it was also reported that former Indian cricketer Sreesanth will play in the American Premier League, along with Stuart Binny. Additionally, cricket fans can now receive the latest news in contemporary Malayalam on WhatsApp by clicking on the provided link.
