Thiruvananthapuram: A housewife has committed suicide due to domestic violence. Divya, the wife of former soldier S. Biju, was burnt to death. An eyewitness’s daughter told Manorama News that Biju had beaten Divya even after threatening to kill himself with kerosene. The family also released a message sent by Divya describing the abuse of her husband’s family.
Biju has not been arrested though a case has been registered. Divya died last Thursday morning in a fire that broke out last Sunday. Divya’s only daughter, a Plus One, recalls the circumstances that led to her suicide. It is alleged that the suicide was not a sudden quarrel that day but was caused by years of mental and physical abuse by her husband and family.
The message he sent to his sister a few months ago is also shown as evidence. The message is that the husband supports the abuse of the mother and that the husband is responsible if anything happens. Biju’s attempt to lie to his daughter to make it look like he is not suicidal while he is being treated for burns also adds to the mystery. It is alleged that even though the eyewitness’s daughter told the police all this, the police were not ready to arrest Biju.
