The Beatles are back on Amazon’s Top 10, and not just once, but twice.

The remixed and remastered anthology CD box set holds the number 2 spot, while its vinyl counterpart is at number 8. The CD version is priced at $118, and the vinyl is a steeper $374. Both are slated for release on November 21st.

Beatles Anthology reissues Dominate Amazon charts

The iconic band’s catalog sees renewed success with updated versions of beloved compilations.

  • The Beatles’ Anthology CD and vinyl sets are in Amazon’s Top 10.
  • The Anthology 1, 2, and 3 series has been updated by Giles Martin.
  • A new “Anthology 4” will include 13 previously unheard song versions.
  • the remixed “Free as a Bird” features updated production and Paul McCartney’s humming.

What exactly are these chart-toppers? The original 30-year-old Anthology 1, 2, and 3 sets have been polished up by Giles Martin and the Apple team. Their goal was to make them sound as good as all the othre Beatles reissues.

Did you know?-The beatles’ Anthology project originally released in 1995, aimed to document the band’s entire career, including unreleased recordings and insights from each member.

These will be joined by “Anthology 4,” which features 13 tracks – all previously unheard versions of familiar songs.

While there are no entirely new songs, the previously released tracks that were added to the Anthology sets – “Free as a Bird,” “real Love,” and “Now and Then” – have been remixed and remastered by ELO’s Jeff Lynne. You can hear the updated “Free as a Bird” now. It used to sound slow and sludgy, but it now shines brightly. Frankly, the best part is Paul McCartney’s wistful humming at the end. It’s pure gold.

Pro tip:-Jeff Lynne, known for his work with Electric Light orchestra, has a long history with Beatles members, notably collaborating with George Harrison on his solo albums.

It’s captivating that Capitol released the advance sales on Amazon so early. Taylor Swift’s new album drops on October 3, but her label has held back on advance sales so far. They are clearly building anticipation for a major release.

The new mix of “Free as a Bird” is about 30 seconds shorter than the original. Upon hearing it, I thoght it sounded faster. My guess is they slightly increased the pitch. Smart move.

Reader question:-Do you think these remasters will attract a new generation of Beatles fans, or primarily appeal to longtime collectors?
