A man serving a 23-year sentence for attempted murder was apprehended by police after escaping from prison. Kieran Cameron, 43, was taken back into custody on Thursday evening, bringing an end to a search that began Tuesday night.

Cameron was reported missing from HMP Thorn Cross, an open prison in Warrington, Cheshire, at 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday, authorities said. He had been convicted of attempted murder in Dorset in 2016.

Police stated Cameron has established connections in Manchester, Liverpool, and Dorset. The Cheshire Police Serious and Organised Crime unit arrested him in the Hulme area of Manchester.

On Wednesday, authorities cautioned the public not to approach Cameron and to immediately contact 999 if they encountered him.
