Oregon State Wrestling Dominates Northern Illinois, 28-12, Behind Strong Individual Performances

Oregon State’s wrestling team secured a decisive victory over Northern Illinois on Friday evening, winning 28-12 at Victor E. Court. The No. 26-ranked Beavers showcased their strength with eight individual wins, despite facing challenges from injuries and a forfeit.

Beavers Showcase Depth and Skill

The Oregon State wrestling team demonstrated its depth and skill, earning a commanding win against Northern illinois. The team’s performance was highlighted by several extraordinary individual victories, contributing to their overall success.

Maximo Renteria kicked off the night with a 6-2 decision over No.25-ranked Blake West, improving his season record to 13-1 and his career record to 29-10. Shortly after, Nash Singleton followed suit with a dominant 14-2 major decision over Charles Curtis at 141 pounds, boosting his season record to 9-5 and career record to 24-14. At 157 pounds, CJ Hamblin secured a 5-2 decision against Landen Johnson, while Matthew Olguin at 165 pounds delivered a commanding 17-4 major decision over Brett Smith.

The 21st-ranked wrestler, Daschle Lamer, remained undefeated this season with a 12-3 major decision over Tommy Bennett, maintaining a perfect 9-0 record. At 184 pounds,TJ McDonnell,ranked No. 33, outlasted Caleb Rose for a 15-8 decision, improving his season record to 10-4.

Rademacher Continues Dominance

Justin Rademacher, ranked No. 5 at 197 pounds, continued to assert his dominance with a 15-4 major decision over Spencer Mooberry. Rademacher now boasts a 15-1 season record, including six major decisions, two technical falls, and two pins.

The Beavers’ overall record against Northern Illinois now stands at 3-0, with previous victories occurring on December 13, 2009 (36-6) in Fargo, N.D., and November 16, 2013 (27-9) in Ypsilanti, Mich.
