Days after the debate in the Deputies’ commission on the Omnibus Law, the governors of Together for Change (JxC) met with the Ministers of the Interior, Guillermo Francos; and of Economy, Luis Caputo, and conditioned their support for the reforms as long as the fiscal, productive and economic interests of their provinces are not affected.

The provincial leaders expressed to the officials their willingness to collaborate in governance, considering the importance for the Government of generating political volume and having the reforms approved in Congress. They emphasized the delicate and complex economic situation.

However, in a meeting via Zoom, they stated that they will defend the interests of their provinces in initiatives that affect fiscal matters, production and economic development. That is to say, they are not going to accompany the reform in the fishing law, nor the increase in withholdings for regional economies and the countryside, nor the modifications to the biofuels law, and they have already expressed their disagreement with one of the chapters of the reform. politics where their representation in Congress could be affected.

Ministers Francos and Caputo participated virtually from the Hall of Shields of the Casa Rosada. The governors Rogelio Frigerio (Entre Ríos), Carlos Sadir (Jujuy), Gustavo Valdés (Corrientes), Maximiliano Pullaro (Santa Fe), Claudio Poggi (San Luis), Marcelo Orrego (San Juan), Alfredo Cornejo (Mendoza) participated in the meeting. , Ignacio Torres (Chubut), and Leandro Zdero (Chaco), and the head of government Jorge Macri (Autonomous City of Buenos Aires).

In La Libertad Avanza they insist on reaching a ruling before next weekend and, some more daring ones, are even betting on the debate moving to the Lower House. In the more “collaborative” opposition they already warn that it will hardly happen, they continue to propose modifications and, above all, they demand that a negotiating table be formed with interlocutors with decision-making power.

There are three blocks – with a majority of deputies from what was Together for Change – that each have the key to the approval of the project and have already begun to work in coordination to discuss the changes.
