Behind-the-Scenes: Aadujeeweet – Prithviraj’s Transformation and Crew’s Pandemic Journey in Jordan

Malayalam’s own ‘Atujiweetham’, directed by Blessy, has been one of the most eagerly awaited films by the Malayali audience since its first announcement. Now a behind-the-scenes video of Goat Life crews’ journey through Jordan’s Wadi Rum region during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic has been released on YouTube. In this video, you can see the team members from different countries playing, laughing and celebrating together in the middle of the desert despite the hardships.

In the video, Prithviraj spoke about his extraordinary transformation for the film and his fear of losing that progress before the start of shooting, saying, “Blessy sir’s biggest worry was that my 8 months of hard work physical transformation would go to waste. It had to be utilized and not wasted. I spent two weeks in Austria at Vivamere before going to Jordan to get my body in better shape for the character. But suddenly, unexpectedly, Covid-19 was declared a pandemic. Blazey sir used to always express his concern to me, ‘Raju, whenever we decide to shoot this, you will have to go through so much again and do your entire physical transformation again.'” He used to ask me this every night. And my reply was, ‘Blessy sir, is there any other way for us’. But Finally I had to face the situation.”

Sharing the experience of being stuck with the film crew in the middle of an unprecedented pandemic, Blessi said, “Our excitement at coming to this desert with dreams turned into fear when we learned that the pandemic of Covid-19 had hit the world. For sixty days we were alone in this desert. It was on March 9, 2020 that we landed in Jordan to shoot our second schedule. Every day since then has been challenging for us. The courage to stick together in difficult times is what this film taught all the little members of our team, which I think is the most special thing.”

Aadujeetvam is the biggest film of Prithviraj’s career. Amala Paul will play Prithviraj’s heroine in the film, which has music by Oscar award winners AR Rahman and sound mixing by Rasul Pookutty. The film is coming under the banner of visual romance. Jimmy Jean-Louis (Hollywood actor), K.R. Gokul, Arab actors Talib Al Balushi and Rickabi are playing other important characters in the film.
