[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The objective of this article is to investigate the impact of stigma associated with families of people with mental health problems through an exploratory qualitative descriptive study with the aim of delving into the opinions, thoughts and experiences of families. A total of eight family members participated through interview and focus group techniques. The results show the existence of a stigma still present in today’s society, the effects of which have serious repercussions on families who live or have lived with these health problems. Psychosocial consequences were identified, such as fear, overprotection and guilt, especially in women. The lack of widespread knowledge, lack of professional training and difficulties in accessing the mental health system also perpetuate existing stereotypes.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Authorship: Laura Delgado-Bordas; Angela Carbonell
