The two years didn’t matter anymore. Belgium’s King Philippe and his wife Mathilde were actually expected in March 2020, but then the Covid pandemic and finally the Russian invasion of Ukraine intervened. On Tuesday the time had finally come: the royal couple arrived in Kinshasa, the capital of today’s Democratic Republic of the Congo: for their first visit to the former Belgian colony.
