Belmont Stakes at Saratoga: 2024 Dates & Guide

Summer in Saratoga Springs begins in earnest this week with the return of the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival.

With Belmont Park still undergoing redevelopment — which Gov. Kathy Hochul said last week would be completed next fall — Saratoga Race Course hosts the third leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown for the second year. The draw for Saturday’s race is Monday afternoon; yet again, there’s no Triple Crown on the line, with different winners of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes.

Racing actually begins Wednesday, the first day of the festival at the course. Wednesday’s and Thursday’s schedules start at 12:40 p.m. and feature 10 races each; Friday’s lineup starts at 11:40 a.m. with a 14-race schedule; and the big day Saturday will also feature 14 races, starting at 10:45 a.m.

The festival this week is part of an expanded 2025 season at Saratoga; the track is hosting a July 4 weekend racing festival from July 3-6 in addition to the usual 40-day summer meet from July 10-Sept. 1.
