Even before the transfer window opens, Benfica is already acting in the market and guaranteed the arrival of a great reinforcement for the next season. The Encarnados announced this Saturday the signing of midfielder Orkun Kökcü, who was at Feyenoord.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Portuguese paid 30 million euros (about R$ 157 million at current prices) to have the 22-year-old athlete, which makes him the most expensive transfer in the club’s history. The player signed a contract until 2028.

Born in the Netherlands, but with Turkish nationality, Kökcü defended Feyenoord’s shirt from the youth categories. Last season, the number 10 was the captain of the team and helped Arne Slot’s charges to lift the title of the Dutch Championship, being elected the best player in the competition.
The midfielder arrives in Portugal to reinforce a Benfica that also dominated the national league. Portuguese champions, coach Roger Schmidt’s team also had a good campaign in Champions Leaguebeing eliminated in the quarterfinals by Inter Milan.
