The Minister of State for Illegal Immigration Affairs in the government appointed by the House of Representatives, Fathi Al-Tabawi, told the Libyan newspaper Al-Anbaa, “The conference will witness broad participation from (47) African countries and (27) European countries at the governmental, parliamentary and political levels, in addition to the participation of organizations.” Civil society”.

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government appointed by the House of Representatives, Abdul Hadi Al-Hawaij, stressed “the necessity of finding a new approach and common solutions to the issue of irregular migration during the European-African Conference,” stressing that “addressing the issue of migration requires the presence of all parties concerned, including Source countries, transit countries and destination countries, to ensure positive results.”

Al-Hawaij criticized “what he described as the previous unilateral policies imposed by the European Union on African countries,” considering that they “led to the failure of the proposed solutions.”

He stressed, “Libya cannot be a ‘policeman for Europe’ across the Mediterranean, and will not be subject to the dictates of the European Union.”

Al-Hawaij called for “adopting a joint cooperative approach among all concerned parties, and developing new advanced solutions that take into account the needs of all countries,” and demanded “the establishment of a Euro-African employment agency and a migration observatory, taking into account human rights and Africans in diaspora countries.”

It is noteworthy that the conference will be held from the 25th to the 27th of this month of May, under the auspices of the Libyan government appointed by the House of Representatives, and in coordination with the General Command and the House of Representatives, and aims through its work to come up with concrete recommendations and radical solutions to the issue of illegal immigration, and to coordinate cooperation between African countries. And the European Union in the field of combating the phenomenon of migration.
